Having outgrown their existing website, Flicks approached Pixel Fusion with the goal of rebuilding the architecture of their site and implementing a new visual design. I developed a custom PHP web framework that could scale to meet their increasing traffic requirements. I based the entire system on a RESTful web services architecture and designed a custom CMS tailor made for the unique requirements of publishing videos, cinema session times, and daily film industry news. The JSON API is now used to supply content to New Zealand’s two largest newspapers and supports a popular iPhone application. This development has enabled Flicks.co.nz to grow from being a niche website to become the central hub for movie and cinema information in New Zealand.
