Kaboom!
In amongst another eventful week of hacking, mashing and ranting, I’ve been ticking away at this ‘ere website. Do you like it?
Over the years, I have managed to amass quite the collection of junk words here, and there is a huge effort involved in, um, curating this spindly mass. In other words, expect contents to shift during flight. There are still major pieces of the puzzle yet to be put in place, but I needed to get this up, simply because I needed to write here, and now that I actually have a CMS that isn't a horrible little ball of mud, I am happy to be able to fling out posts on this site, smoothly, easily, and whenever I feel like it.
I decided to move the site off the old coretxt domain to a new URL — maetl.net because of feedback from a few people, the essence being that the long domain name was too weird to type and hard to remember. So hopefully this one will be more punchy and succinct.
Of course the biggest change (apart from the visual design) is that there are comments enabled on selected entries. Yes! Comments! So you can troll me, spam me, diss me, argue with me, or (gasp) even compliment me. If you feel like it.
A new feature that I am experimenting with is being able to post comments via twitter. To do that, you can post a tweet replying to me, @maetl, along with a shortlink to the entry you want to stamp. All active entries have an assigned shortlink (eg: this one is http://maetl.net/nu). Currently, you must use this link — I expect to support bit.ly and possibly other formats in the near future, but for the moment, there are more pressing concerns.
So, in the interests of Release Early, Release Often, here we go...
