Where possible, markup is valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional but will likely move to HTML5 over time. Many of the older articles are a tag soup.

The Content Management System that powers this site is a handrolled custom, using the Floe PHP framework, with a MySQL storage layer and various connectors to HTTP web services.

Visual Design

The layouts are intentionally designed with very few supporting graphics, and instead, makes use of stylesheet switching to achieve a variety of colour schemes and font-styles which reflect the diverse range of content published on this site. The layout grid was initiated based on odd ratios, using the width of images imported from the old site content.
